About Martyrs' Day
Martyrs' Day, or Shaheed Diwas, is observed on 30 January, the day Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in 1948. Two minutes of silence are observed at 11 am across India.
23 March is also observed as Shaheed Diwas in memory of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, who were executed in 1931.
