About National Sports Day
National Sports Day, or Rashtriya Khel Diwas, on 29 August marks the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, who won three Olympic gold medals with India.
The President presents national sports awards around this day, and schools hold sports activities under the Fit India movement.
