About National Space Day
On 23 August 2023 ISRO's Chandrayaan-3 mission landed the Vikram lander near the lunar south pole, a first for any country, and the Pragyan rover explored the surface. The Government of India declared 23 August National Space Day, first celebrated in 2024.
Schools, science centres and technology companies mark the day with exhibitions, quizzes and talks on India's space programme, from Aryabhata in 1975 to Mangalyaan, Chandrayaan and Gaganyaan.
Schools and coaching institutes can pair the greeting with a fun space fact; rocket and Moon-landing themes work best.
