Karwa Chauth falls on the fourth day after the full moon of Kartik. Married women fast from sunrise until moonrise for the long life and wellbeing of their husbands, mostly in north India.
The day starts with sargi before dawn, followed by mehendi, the Karwa Chauth katha in the evening and breaking the fast after seeing the moon through a sieve. It is a big day for jewellery, salon, fashion and gifting businesses.
Salons and jewellers should post offers a week ahead; post greetings in the afternoon and a 'moonrise' creative in the evening.
